The Plano Premier Lacrosse Club was formed to promote a healthy competitive youth ladies lacrosse team in North Texas area. Open to girls kindergarten through 12th grades in Plano, Little Elm, Murphy, Richardson and surrounding areas.

Amy Fortney - Program Director, High School Head Coach 

Amy Fortney is the current program director and the high school head coach for the Plano Premier Girls Lacrosse program.  She just finished her fourth year with the program, taking the team to District and State semifinals in 2016, being the North District Championship runner up and a State semifinalist in 2017 , having the program's most successful year in 2018 and then making the Texas State tournament again in 2019.  The 2018 team finished second in the North District and second in the state of Texas, falling to Greenhill in the Texas State Championship game, 14-9.  The 2019 team lost to the #2 seed Klein 14-13 in a great game.  Amy is also a coach for Grit Lacrosse in Dallas, where she coaches the 2020 and 2023 teams.

Prior to moving to Texas, she coached at East Ridge High School in Woodbury, Minnesota, where she started the program and led the team to the District Finals in its inaugural year in 2012 and again in 2013. While in Minnesota, she coached for MN Elite, the premier girls club program in Minnesota.  

Amy also coached at the St. Andrew’s School in Boca Raton, FL from 2007-2011, and also spent a year at The Godolphin School in Salisbury, England working as a lacrosse coach and physical education teacher.

Amy is a Syracuse, NY native and received her bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Kansas in 2002 before obtaining her master's degree in education in 2005 from Kansas.  Amy came to Texas to work at Southern Methodist University as the academic counselor for the men’s basketball team.  She made a career change in 2016 and is now a special education teacher at Jasper High School in Plano.    

 

Barb Thompson - Youth Director, High School Assistant Coach 

Barb Thompson is the current youth director and the high school assistant coach for the Plano Premier Girls Lacrosse program.  Coach "T", as she is better known, brings 25+ years of lacrosse experience to Plano.

Barb coached Branchburg Lacrosse in New Jersey from 2006-2016. She most recently led the K-2 clinic, but has also coached 3rd-8th grade teams. She also served on the Branchburg Lacrosse board as a secretary from 2012-2016.  

Barb also coached at Langley High School in McLean, VA from 2002-2004. She began her coaching career as the assistance coach, quickly becoming the varsity head coach in 2003. She led the varsity team to the district tournament in 2003 and 2004 and in 2004 led the team to the regional tournament. 

Barb is originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA and received her bachelor of science degree in food marketing from St. Joseph’s University. While at St. Joseph’s University, Barb played lacrosse and is still amongst the top 10 record holders for ground balls and caused turnovers. Before moving to Texas, Barb worked in marketing and advertising and also received her RYT 200 yoga teaching certification.

 

Marcy Comnick - Youth Assistant Coach 

Marcy is the current youth assistant coach for the Plano Premier Girls Lacrosse program. She comes to the program with deep lacrosse roots from upstate NY. 

Marcy attended school at Syracuse University in the mid-90's where she was first introduced to the game of women's lacrosse and started playing. Before a mid-summer move in 2018 to the country, she was the 3/4 girls youth head coach serving 3 full seasons with McKinney Lacrosse.

Marcy also brings with her knowledge of the rapidly growing sport of Girls Lacrosse. She is a Certified Girls Youth Official serving with NTWLOA (North Texas Women's Lacrosse Officials Association) and is an active US Lacrosse member. 

Marcy is originally from Massena, NY, a small town on the border of Canada and the Akwesane Mohawk Nation. She lived in Syracuse, NY for 10 years before she made her final trek to North Texas in 2005. She is a work from home mother of 2, wife, and artist. Her daughter started playing lacrosse in 6th grade and is now a member of Plano Premier Girls Lacrosse Varsity Team.
